This role supports connection and belonging by leading a conversation-based gathering and providing facilitation for special affinity groups, including newcomer women, seniors, parents, men and members of the LGBTQ2 community.

This volunteer role requires availability for a two-hour block once per week. Sessions are scheduled in the afternoons or evenings to accommodate participant schedules; specific day and time will be arranged with staff and participants to best meet group needs.

- Plan and lead weekly two-hour Social Circle sessions in the afternoons or evenings, once per week.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where all participants feel safe to share and engage.
- Facilitate group conversations, encourage participation, and manage time to ensure all voices are heard.
- Adapt facilitation style and activities to meet the cultural, linguistic, and accessibility needs of each affinity group.
- Provide emotional support and active listening; identify when participants may need referrals to additional supports or community resources and share information appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with Carlington Community Connection staff and other volunteers to plan themes, activities, or guest speakers relevant to each group.
- Maintain basic records of attendance and themes discussed and provide brief session summaries to staff as requested.
- Respect confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.

- Demonstrated respect for diversity and an understanding of inclusion principles, particularly as they relate to newcomer women, seniors, parents, and LGBTQ2 individuals.
- Ability to adapt facilitation approaches for different cultural backgrounds, languages, and accessibility needs.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a weekly time slot.
- Previous facilitation, community work, or lived experience with the relevant communities is an asset but not required.
