As a member of the Tenants Association, I remember when Carlington Connection started at 1465 Caldwell Ave., unit #102. It was the beginning of a big change, where shared places became important for our community. I volunteered to represent the tenants' association, and it led to some amazing experiences that showed how much community efforts matter.
One memory that sticks with me is when I helped solve a problem using conflict resolution skills. Things were getting tense, but we managed to work things out peacefully, which taught us to respect each other more. It was a powerful moment, showing how talking things out can make relationships stronger. Later, I became a board member because I wanted to do even more for our community. Running programs like Creative Path and Rainbow Weavers gave people a chance to learn and be creative. Seeing how people grew and felt happier showed me how important community projects are. Volunteering wasn't just about helping others; it was also a lifeline for me during tough times. It gave me a sense of belonging and helped me feel connected when I felt alone. Looking back, Carlington Connection's programs helped our community in many ways. They looked after people's bodies, minds, and spirits, making us stronger and happier. A lot has changed over time, but it always remained welcoming. Hearing different voices and ideas made our community stronger and more supportive. The most touching part of Carlington Connection is hearing people's stories. They show how much it means to have support when life gets hard. As I keep going on this journey, I hope others will see how important it is to get involved in their communities. A small gesture, like a smile or offering help, can make a big difference to someone in need. In short, Carlington Connection shows how communities can change for the better when people work together. It's proof that when everyone's included, we can build strong communities where everyone matters.
