The Carlington Community is a catchment area of 4,000-5,000 residents, roughly bounded by Carling Avenue, Maitland Avenue, Clyde Avenue, Fisher Avenue, and Baseline Road.

According to the Ottawa Neighbourhood study, the number of social and affordable housing units in Carlington  is 1,140 while the average in Ottawa is 229.4. Other facts about the neighborhood according to this study:

• The percentage of people aged 18-64 living in low income is three times higher than the city average
• 19.8% of the population has not completed high school
• The rate of unemployment is 6.2%, while the city average is 4.8%
• The percentage of immigrants living in the area is 28.2%, almost 5% more than the city average​
