Steve Zytveld, Chaplain
Steve serves as the dedicated chaplain at Carlington Community Connection in Ottawa. With a strong commitment to fostering spiritual well-being and social support, Steve plays a vital role in nurturing community spirit and offering compassionate guidance to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Drawing on years of experience in chaplaincy and community outreach, he is known for his empathetic approach and genuine desire to help others navigate life's challenges.
In his role at Carlington Community Connection, Steve provides a welcoming presence and a listening ear to those in need, offering both spiritual counsel and practical support. His work reflects a deep-rooted belief in the importance of building inclusive, resilient communities where everyone feels valued and supported. Through his service, Steve Zytveld continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Carlington residents.
Steve presently lives in a book-crammed apartment in Centre town with his wife, Cathy and their two guinea pigs. In his spare time, Steve enjoys reading, writing, and experiencing the wonders of Creation by walking in our city’s parks and wooded areas.

Jeff is committed to fostering connection and inclusion to support local residents in overcoming the effects of loneliness, isolation and disconnection. Jeff has played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of community programs aimed at enhancing well-being and social engagement. His collaborative spirit has helped strengthen partnerships with neighbourhood organizations, making Carlington a more vibrant and connected place to live.
Throughout his tenure at Carlington Community Connection, his passion for empowerment and capacity-building is evident in his hands-on approach and ability to inspire volunteers and participants alike. Jeff's vision and dedication continue to shape the organization’s mission of creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all neighbours.
When not focused on the mission of Carlington Community Connection, Jeff allows himself to be distracted by taking long walks with his dog, Robbie, spending time at the rink playing hockey and joining his new friends at the Legion for a game of pool.
